The Selectboard is the local legislative body of the Town. As such they enact ordinances, adopt policies to provide guidance in the administration of local government, authorize the expenditure of all town money, approve the general fund budget for consideration by the voters at Town Meeting and set the tax rate, serve as water and sewer commissioners, appoint members of boards and commissions, appoint the town manager and lay out, reclassify, and open local highways for public travel.

The Town Manager is appointed by the Selectboard and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Town of Stowe. The Manager is responsible to the Selectboard for the day-to-day administration of local government. They are responsible for hiring and overseeing all non-elected employees, recommending budgets to the Selectboard and advising them, and ensuring that local government services are provided in a professional manner that is consistent with their policy direction.

Stowe's Selectboard meets the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Memorial Hall in the Akeley Memorial Building (Town Hall), located at 67 Main Street.
