A regular meeting of the Stowe Historic Preservation Commission (SHPC) was held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 in the Akeley Memorial Building starting at approximately 5:30 pm.
Milford Cushman presented the application. Milford submitted a photograph of the proposed vent for the heating system. The vent will not be visible from Mountain Road.
Mr. Carey moved to recommend approval as submitted and to classify the project as a minor modification. The motion was approved 6-0.
Project: Section 106 Review, StoweCommunityChurch Steeple, Renovations of Steeple to Install Antennas Inside
Joshua Delman presented the application. It was noted that since this was a church, no formal design review was possible under state law. The Commission reviewed the plans and a sample of RF material used to simulate bricks. Mrs. Baraw moved to send a positive Section 106 recommendation. The motion was approved 6-0.
Project 3944, 147 South Main Street, Unit 2C, Applicant: Marcus and Ruth Wilson, Installation of Window
Vincent DeRico presented the application. Vincent submitted a photograph of a similar window previously installed on another unit. The window will be centered under the roof apex.
Mr. Carey moved to recommend approval so long as the window was the same portions as the other window that was previously installed and to classify the project as a minor modification. The motion was approved 5-0 with Mr. Meehan abstaining.
Project 3942, 645 South Main Street, Applicant: Town of Stowe, Installation of Shed
Rich Baker presented the application. Rich submitted a photograph of a shed that the town would like to relocate from the existing public safety-building parcel to the rear of the temporary police operations parcel. Gordon questioned why it was before the Commission since it was a town project. Rich stated that it was not on town-owned property.
Mr. Gordon moved to recommend approval as submitted and to classify the project as a minor modification with a condition that the shed was to only remain while being used as part of the town police operations. The motion was approved 6-0.
