Minutes

A regular meeting of the Stowe Historic Preservation Commission (SHPC) was held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 in the Akeley Memorial Building starting at approximately 5:30 pm.

Members Presents: Sam Scofield, Chair

Tim Meehan

Cindy McKechnie

Barbara Baraw

Jean Innamorati

GordonDixon

Staff Present: Richard Baker, Zoning Director

Project 3922, 1 South Main Street (VermontSkiMuseum), Applicant: VermontSkiMuseum, Additional of Glass Panels in Front Door

Scott Noble presented the application. Scott submitted a photo-simulation of how the front door would look with the installation of glass into four recessed panels in the front door of the Ski Museum. He also submitted photographs of other doors with glass inserts within the village area.

Mr. Meehan moved to recommend approval as submitted and to classify the project as a minor modification. The motion was approved 6-0.

Project 3792, 128 Main Street, Applicant: Zomax LLC, Minor Revisions to Previously Approved Façade Alterations

Sam Scofield presented the application. Sam submitted as-built elevations of the completed façade. The National Park Service staff required that the shutters be installed to cover both the windows and the framing around the windows. This would result in covering much of the brick area when the shutters were opened. Therefore, the shutters have been removed from the project. Several other minor façade changes in the rear have also been made as depicted on the submitted elevations.

Ms. Baraw moved to recommend approval as submitted and to classify the project as a minor modification. The motion was approved 5-0 (with Sam recusing himself).

Project: Section 106 Review (No zoning permit requested), Christ Community Steeple, Renovations of Steeple to Install Antennas Inside

The SHPC found that the submittal lacked enough details to complete a review. The SHPC would like to see a sample of the RF-transparent materials in order to evaluate if they are an adequate substitution for the replacement of the wood sheathing. In addition, the SHPC would like detailed elevations of the existing and proposed changes to the steeple. Last, there are already antennas in the steeple and there are questions if some the wood sheathing has already been replaced. Rich will communicate these needs to the consultant.

Approval of Minutes

The minutes of 11/12/08 were approved as submitted.

Farewell to Jean Innamorati

Jean announced that she would be resigning after this meeting since she is moving to the Boston area. The members congratulated Jean on her new job and thanked her for her dedicated service on the Commission.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted, Richard Baker, Zoning Director
