Project 3910, 285 Trapp Hill Road (Austrian Tea House), Applicant: Trapp Family Lodge, Relocation of Entry Door
Johannes von Trapp presented the application. Johannes submitted elevations prepared by Steel Construction Inc dated 10/22/08. The project involves adding an 11' x 28' cooler and a barn-style door.
Mr. Meehan moved to recommend approval as submitted and to classify the project as a minor modification. The motion was approved 7-0.
Project 3896, 312 South Main Street, Owner: Town of Stowe, Construction of PublicSafetyBuilding
Roy Ward presented a revised elevation that included revised windows, roofs, and main entry. The changes were based upon comments made at the October 22, 2008 SHPC meeting. Overall the Commission felt that this revised design addressed the design issues previously discussed. The Commission felt that they could not do a thorough review given the elevation scale and details provided. It was noted that the quality and type of the architectural components selected would affect the overall building appearance.
Mr. Safford agreed to return to the Commission with final architectural component details after they are selected.
Update on HelenDayArtCenter Renovations
Justin Rabidoux discussed the window renovations at the HelenDayArtCenter. He said that window sizes limited the selection on window types. The Commission offered some recommendations.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of 10/22/08 were approved with a spelling correction.
Plaque Presentation
The Commission reconvened at the Stowe Inn at 6:30 pm to present plaques for notable historic projects.
The meeting and presentation adjourned at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted, Richard Baker, Zoning Director
