
Stowe Historic Preservation Commission TOWN OF STOWE May 23, 2007 Minutes A regular meeting of the Stowe Historic Preservation Commission (SHPC) was held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 in the Akeley Memorial Building starting at approximately 5:15 p.m. Members Presents: Sam Scofield, Chair Barbara Baraw Jean Innamorati Cindy McKechnie Tim Meehan Chris Carey Paul Reed Others Present: Rich Baker, Zoning Administrator; James Charkalis; Marguerite Charkalis; Joe Uzabel; Jeff Hill; John Adams; Donna Adams; Jennifer Hezel, Zoning Assistant Application #3417: 188 South Main Street, Applicant: James and Marguerite Charkalis Jeff Hill presented for the applicants the removal of a dormer. The dormer was previously removed due to water damage resulting from the roof pitch. Mr. Hill stated he was unaware of the required application process. The application was approved on a motion by Mr. Baraw, seconded by Mr. Carey. The SHPC voted unanimously to approve the application. Application #3425: 456 Moscow Road, Applicant: Donna Adams Mr. Uzabel presented for the applicants their interest in installing 4’ x 8’ solar panels on a building determined as historic. The solar panels would be installed on the southern side of the exterior façade on the building. The application was approved on a motion by Mr. Carey, seconded by Mr. Meehan. The SHPC voted unanimously to approve the application. Application #3424: 166 South Main Street, Applicant: Jeff Hill Mr. Hill presented for the applicants their interest in installing three gable-end vents on the side of the building to allow for increase air flow to the furnace in the attic area. The vents will be 1’6” round and will be painted to match the existing building colors. The SHPC voted unanimously to approve the application. Pre-Application Meeting: 504 Mountain Road, Applicant: Sam Scofield Sam Scofield presented plans for the addition of a door for the Partridge Inn. Mr. Scofield stated the door is required to meet state fire codes. Mr. Scofield asked for suggestions on how to fashion the door on the street side entrance, which the SHPC suggested is currently not in character with the area. The applicant had proposed to cover the door with siding. The SHPC asked Mr. Scofield to return with modifications of the door that would be more in character with the building. Minutes The minutes of the May 9, 2007 meeting were approved contingent on a motion by Ms. Baraw, seconded by Ms. Innamorati.
