Report of the Village Center Committee

"In 2007 the Town of Stowe hired Crane Associates, Inc. of Burlington, Vermont to prepare a study of ways the Town might be enhanced in order to increase the vibrancy of the Village. Over a period of more than 6 months and after literally hundreds of interviews with full and part-time residents, local merchants, town officials, residents, and officials of other Vermont communities, Crane Associates published the 91 page “Stowe Village Vibrancy Report” (the “Report”). It was presented to the Stowe Planning Commission and the Stowe Selectboard in spring, 2008. The Report concludes with a group of 24 recommendations covering a broad range of topics.

Consistent with the consultant’s recommendation, the Stowe Selectboard appointed a group of 12 town resident volunteers to review the Report, to analyze each recommendation, and to report back its findings by no later than February, 2009. It charged this “Village Center Committee” (“VCC”) with determining which of the Report recommendations should be acted upon, establishing priorities and timetables for action, estimating preliminary costs if possible, and recommending who should accomplish them."
